Frequently Asked Questions

Getting started

How do I add a vehicle?

Tap the + icon in the upper-right corner of the Vehicles screen. A quick 3-step setup wizard will walk you through entering your vehicle's info, key specs, and your first reminder. Every step is skippable — you can always fill in details later.

Can I track multiple vehicles?

Yes. The free tier supports up to 2 vehicles. Upgrade to GarageLog Pro to add unlimited vehicles.

What vehicle types are supported?

GarageLog supports 15 categories: cars, trucks, SUVs, vans, motorcycles, ATVs/UTVs, boats, RVs, trailers, tractors, mowers, generators, commercial vehicles, equipment, and other. Each category surfaces relevant service types and spec fields automatically.

Mileage & reminders

How does mileage estimation work?

GarageLog calculates your average miles per day based on recent odometer entries. It uses that rate to estimate your current mileage between readings. When an estimate is being shown, your odometer will display a ~ prefix so you always know it's an approximation.

How do I set up a service reminder?

Reminders are set in Step 3 of the service log wizard — just tap the wrench icon to log a service, and you'll be prompted to configure a reminder before saving. You can set a mileage interval, a time interval, or both. Reminders can also be set up during the vehicle onboarding wizard when you add a new vehicle.

Can I snooze a reminder?

Yes. Long-press a reminder notification to reveal the Snooze 3 Days and Snooze 7 Days action buttons — no need to open the app. The snooze options won't be visible if you just expand the notification list; a long-press is the trigger. You can also disable a reminder entirely from the service log wizard if you no longer want to be notified.

Purchases & sync

How do I restore a GarageLog Pro purchase?

Open Settings and tap Upgrade to Pro. On the Pro screen, tap the Restore Purchase link below the Unlock Pro button. Make sure you're signed into the same Apple ID used for the original purchase. GarageLog Pro is a one-time purchase and can be restored on any device tied to that Apple ID at no extra charge.

Where is my data stored?

All your vehicle and maintenance data is stored locally on your device using an on-device database. The Service Provider never has access to your data. If you enable iCloud sync (Pro feature), data is also synced through your personal Apple iCloud account.

How does iCloud sync work?

iCloud sync is a GarageLog Pro feature. Once enabled in Settings → iCloud Sync, GarageLog silently syncs all your vehicles, service history, specs, and photos through your personal iCloud account. Sync runs automatically when the app opens and periodically in the background. Your data flows only through your own iCloud — TinkerBench Labs never has access to it.

What happens to my data if I delete the app?

Local data stored on your device is removed when you delete the app. If you're a Pro user with iCloud sync enabled, your data remains safely in your iCloud account and will be restored automatically if you reinstall GarageLog and sign into the same Apple ID.
